Margot Kempe (1898-1981) was a German/American sculptor who moved to the United States in 1947 and was associated with Greenwich House here in Greenwich Village, known for it's ceramic arts programs, as a teacher.
This example of her work in a Brutalist/Cubist manner and executed in ceramic was made some time in the 1960s, 15 inches tall including the black painted original wooden base.
