Big in Venice

An important and monumental vase form sculpture by Otello Rosa for San Polo of Venice. San Polo was only in business from 1947 to 1959 and produced some of the most beautiful decorative Italian ceramics in the 50s, exhibiting at the Venice Biennale in 1954. Our example is 24 inches tall.

Another Artistic Expression

We have always said our pieces are works of art, and occasionally they are used as media for current established artists. Such is the case with this bountiful installation by the mega-talented, multidisciplinary artist Andiseh Avini. Showing just through the end of the month at the Marianne Boesky Gallery Uptown, the tablescape includes many of our vessels for flowers and bowls for edible offerings as a symbolic assemblage of Persian culture. The paintings and geodistic rock crystal sculptures are the artists work as well. He is a rising star and we are honored that he choose our pieces to complete his vision.

Abstract Expression

A spectacular piece of mid-century Italian pottery, very much in the Abstract Expressionist style. Signed by an unknown artist 'D'Arienza, Italy' - you can see the laborious nature of the construction, where nearly two feet of clay was built, ring by ring, from the base up. Then, we can appreciate the decoration - a painterly application of colorful movement centered with bold orange vertical and horizontal bars. A modern artistic mix in a monumental size - 23" tall

Monumental Murano

At 41" tall, including the spectacular stopper, this is truly a major piece of Venetian glass. The sparkling effect is created by a mix of both gold and silver leaf dust throughout. A masterpiece of glass blowing techniques from mid-century Italy.
