GLASS behind Glass at BERGDORF'S!

Another retail coup. Back in July of 2000 Bergdorf Goodman dressed the windows of their store with loads of glass from "The End of History". Very luxurious! The corner of 57th Street and 5th Avenue has rarely looked so colorful.

BARNEYS NEW YORK Store within a Store

Since mid-century modern furniture is considered fashion for the home, in 2006, Barneys New York invited us to set up an exclusive pop-up shop within the Madison Avenue flagship store. It was a fantastic experience and we met many wonderful up-town shoppers that had yet to discover our downtown treasures.

FOOD & WINE has great TASTE!

Nothing compliments good food and wine like hand crafted glass from The End of History. The prop stylists at FOOD & WINE understand this. The table setting above includes a decanter, goblet, and somewhat rare cased-glass plates in kelly green. This image ran on the cover of the magazine in April of 2007 and was chosen again for their just published 2008 Annual Cookbook. Bon Appetit!

MARTHA loves us and we love MARTHA

It seems just like yesterday that Kevin Sharkey, the editorial director of decorating at Martha Stewart Living magazine, discovered our shop. That was probably 10 years ago. Since then, Martha and daughter Alexis have been in and I went from acting as The End of History's original store manager to working for Martha's TV show for 3 seasons, not to mention our goods have graced the pages of her venerable style guide many times. Here's an example of some lovely fine French opaline glass originally made for the Hermes stores in the 1950's. They are a particularly "Martha" shade of light blue. The new season of her TV show starts today...we'll be watching!

Living in VOGUE

Taking a look back at some of the editorials which featured our wares has been great. I just rediscovered this issue of Vogue Living where we were called out twice. We were a "Pop Pick" and featured in a fashion spread as well.

ICONIC COVER launches the return of COLOR

This collection of glass from "The End of History" was not only beautifully captured, but captured the mood of Interior designers everywhere...that is to say it ushered in the return of COLOR! So iconic is this image (styled by Eddie Ross of Top Design fame) that it was reprinted as the magazine's subscription card for years.

The beginning of "The End of History"

Let me start by sharing clippings from our "History" making editorial coverage over the years. I'll start with the first press we received within months of opening shop. I was minding the store when a Gucci clad lad named Tyler Brulee, founder of Wallpaper Magazine, sauntered in and declared "The End of History" the best new shop in NYC! As a result we ended up in the important WALLPAPER 100 issue. We felt honored and validated. It was kismet. It seems we were both feeling the reverence found in reflecting on the best designs of the 20th century at a time when the world was looking forward to the turn of the millennium.

There is nothing quite like the fabulous lines and sensual shapes of the vintage hand blown glass , the rare ceramics, and the mid-century modern furniture found at "The End of History". We opened our shop in Manhattan's West Village in 1997. Since then we like to think we've cornered the market on the mid-century aesthetic with more glass from the 50's & 60's in one room than anywhere in the world. As a result we've become the go-to for top editors from magazines as well as a choice source the best interior designers in the world. We will update this blog daily... and as new publications come out and exciting new items hit our shelves!
