One Vase/Four Femmes
This
mid-century take on a classical vessel is an Italian hand carved
terracotta vase with a deep blue interior glaze. The sensual bathing
beauties are sgraffito in relief to the rough brown and olive
background. They are realized in a certain illustrative style popular at
the time (think Warhol). While their bodies are the natural color of
the clay the fabric details are beautifully saturated red and blue
glaze, adding to the 3-dimentional effect. Made by Fabbrini, 1950s
