Deco-Rate - Italian Style

Created in the 1930s, this Italian ceramic vessel is a prime example of the Art Deco aesthetic. Gio Ponti's influence can be seen here - the very spare and geometric design is elevated by his generous use of gold decoration. As artistic director of Richard-Ginori from 1923, his influence on decorative objects can't be underestimated, and, in turn, informed his interior and architectural pursuits - cementing him as one of the greatest multiple-discipline designers of the 20th century.
