Cleopatra's Bottle
A bit of Egyptian Revivalism is at play with this palm leaf stoppered bottle from Barbini, circa 1950. We have never seen this particular design from the venerable Murano factory - so rare and unique - that we believe that it was likely a special custom order or a limited edition. The off-white glass is laden with gobs of gold and accented with a salmon colored ring at the base and topped with ball detail on the stopper. Fantastic at 25.5 inches.

Odd Couple
Striking studio pieces created by Swedish artisan Claes Thell - created some time in the 70s.
The surface texture is a result of his signature technique, referred to as "carbon crystalline" glazing, giving them a beautifully imperfect pitted gunmetal quality. We are most intrigued by the unique, just off center, openings at the top.

Wabi-Sabi Pair
Wabi-sabi is the most conspicuous and characteristic feature of
traditional Japanese beauty and it occupies roughly the same position in
the Japanese pantheon of aesthetic values as do the Greek ideals of beauty and perfection in the West. If an object or expression can bring about a sense of
serene melancholy and a spiritual longing, then that object could be
said to be Wabi-sabi, Wabi-sabi nurtures all that is authentic by acknowledging three simple
realities: nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect.
Our beautiful pair of 18th Century keyaki wood chairs perfectly illustrate the ideals of imperfect and unfinished as aesthetically pleasing. Constructed from old rice mortars, they are 18.5 inches tall and sold as a pair.
