Go GREEN

This stunning rectagular vase is truly museum quality (but made for Rosenthal). Designed by Finnish master Tapio Wirkkala whose work is in the permanent collections of MoMA and The Cooper Hewitt. It's beautifully showcased here with ambient back lighting and is enough to make glass lovers green with envy for the lucky patron who ends up with this piece of art.

The Palm Beach Story

This pair of stylish 1950's Coral Lamps are actually made of resin and were found in an estate in tony Palm Beach, proir to making it into our shop.

Slightly CHEESY

We love a Mosaic! This one is high on the camp scale with it's hunk of yellow cheese and frothy contents in the wine glass. Pretty fabulous for a kitchy kitchen or divine in a dining room. Be sure to select the image above to marvel at the craftsmanship.

Lamps all AGLOW

These glass orbs illuminate with an ambient light that's pleasing to the eye. The soft glow of these table top lamps add just a subtle accent. There's a sort of futurism to the designs that make them seem so modern and sci-fi to me.

PURPLE Haze

A customer this last weekend remarked on how rare it is to find purple colored glass. I would have to agree that it is in fact more scarce than other colors. Perhaps Prince has a collection. If not, he should! I'm particularly fond of the Danish bottles by Kastrup with wooden stoppers.

Not born with a SILVER SPOON?

Now you can have six. These delicate Demitasse Spoons are from the 1950's. We believe they are Japanese, for each one has (in the tip of the handle) an individual cultured pearl. What a sweet gift!

AMBER waves of glass

Warm up any room with the earthy hues of Amber glass...nicely mixed here with a gold flecked Murano bowl.

Dis-PLAY Idea

Putting divergent shapes together that have little in common (other than color) creates an attractive, if not, surreal tableau. Don't be afraid to experiment with your groupings. Here we placed a cased glass tomato with a amber glass compote and a gold ceramic shell. Makes design sense to us!

MOTTLED Perfection!

The glaze on these dramatic pieces need to be seen in person. Visually rich in texture, but perfectly smooth to the touch. They are designed (and signed) by Gunnar Nylund, the Art Director of Rorstrand in the '50's.

Are you a shell collector? Then you may want to pick up this group of vases designed by Anna Lisa Thomson for Ekeby, Sweden from the 1940's.

Getting to the HEART of the matter...

As we uncover the origins of our new found objects, we are discovering that our collection is starting to reach further back into the 20th century. This sweet little Artichoke Vase is attributed to Danish potter Michael Andersen, circa 1930's. I nearly choked.

This one's for THE BIRD

This ceramic, let's say Partridge for seasonal reasons, is the rare example of a 1950's bird in near mint condition. Stephen says he's never seen one where neither the beak nor tail were chipped. This one is also by a known designer...Italian ceramicist Aldo Londie.

These Indian-goddess ceramic busts are actually from Italy, circa 1960's. A pair makes a fantastic statement on a mantle.

You'll PINE for these pieces

I'm humbled by the thought of the work that went into these intricate objects of beauty. Like pine cones, each section is hand crafted in perfect symmetrical order on these Scandinavian vases by Per Lilienjren. I was with mouth agape when I first saw them in the shop. Truly unique!

Well, these small masterworks of Swedish and Danish craft should cheer you up! These pieces are small in scale but high in style. The value lies in the subtle muted colors.

Here's a small sample of polka-dotted delights from our recent Danish shipment.

The GREAT DANES have arrived!

Once a year we receive a TREASURE CHEST...that is to say an entire shipping container from our good friends in Copenhagen. The collection includes the most amazing and rare pottery from Denmark and Sweden as well as Italian and German wares. These pieces were originally sold to the stylish Scandinavians at a time when "Danish Modern" came to define the mid-century aesthetic.

EQUUS-site Italian Pottery

Another specialty is our vintage Italian Pottery. The majority of this vibrant electric blue collection is manufactured by either Bitossi or Flavia. Stand-outs include these original equine forms...undoubtedly influential to the modern designs of potter Jonathan Adler.

The VALUE of GOLD!

I tend to focus on our spectacular glass on this site, simply because it what we are most noted for...however, there is much more to The End of History. Here is an example of a decorative Italian TOLE wall sconce. The top image is from our shop and the bottom as seen in the LA manse of American Idol's Ryan Seacrest.

Grey Day, Grey Display

It may be rainy and grey outside, but it's gorgeously grey inside The End of History. Sometimes it's the absence of color that looks chic. This display of grey toned glass flanks a geometric Lucite lamp (with a grey shade) and sits atop a Danish Modern cabinet.

NIKE LIKE-EEE

A few weeks ago we had a store visit from none other than John Hoke, VP and Chief Design Guru at NIKE. He is always so nice and reminded us that he once flew his design team in from Portland to come into The End of History for color ideas. A group of sneaker designers amassed to take digital photos of our color combinations as inspiration for future NIKE kicks! How cool is that?!
