Bowl of The Rings

Made in Italy in the 1950s for import by Raymor
Although we can not with all certainty contribute this bowl to a particular artist, the surface has a lava-like glaze very much reminiscent of Gambone.  So graphic and inventive, the repetition of the ring shape is a delightfully unique design. A great piece for the designer with a penchant for the unexpected and unusual.

The Etruscans

The studio of Gli Etruschi (The Etruscans)was by owned master ceramicist, Ivo De Santis. Just like his ancestors over two thousand years ago this mid 20th century artist was well known for his bold ceramic creations.
We just acquired two large examples from the 1960s, the bull is just over 15 inches from head to tail and the elephant almost 12 inches in length.
Although priced separately the wise collector would surely purchase them as a pair for their Ipanema penthouse or Mulholland Drive Eichler, after all they've been together for 50 years.

Totally Tubular

A super-graphic look from Fratelli Toso. This Murano lamp is perfectly simple and modern in its cylindrical form, and yet clearly complex in terms of the process involved in achieving lattice patterned glass. The white stripes create a fantastic optical effect. The dark stripe, on close inspection, is actually a deep magenta color. Made in Italy, 1950s

Lovely Lady Lamps

Very much the epitome of Fantoni, this cubist couple elevates the concept of table lamp from simple light source to illuminating art. Created in Italy in the 1950s and customized with new wiring and black lucite fittings for today's modern interior design.

Group Dynamic

It's always great when we can form a cohesive collection - reuniting pieces made by the same hand that would have been distributed throughout the world, and are now finally back together in one place. The artist is Alvino Bagni, the line created in Italy in the 1960s for import to American department stores by Raymor. The three vases are sold as a set and the box is extra- with a favorite added feature...a steel ring - a signature touch by Bagni.
Vases are 9.5, 11", 12"

Summering in The Hamptons

We are always honored to be included in any charity showhouse - as a wonderful way to display our luxury wares in an appropriately tony setting. This summer, Gideon Mendelson tapped us for a vast collection of mostly rare Scandinavian ceramics and bronzes to punctuate his fabulous contribution to The Traditional Home Hampton Designer Showhouse. Worth a visit to Sag Harbor to see how one might live the luxe life and at the same time a way to benefit the Southampton Hospital.
